Title: Dynamic response of the tower of a NREL5MW wind turbine generator

Abstract: The megawatts wind turbines are with significant diameter of the turbine disk and of the tower. For this reason, it is necessary to take into account the influence of the wind speed variation on the vertical, which is a prerequisite for the occurrence of different aerodynamic forces in the turbine blades, depending on their position relative to the vertical, i.e. from the azimuth angle. Consequently, this is a source of additional dynamic blade loads even with relatively small longitudinal wind turbulence. This results in an increase in the level of fatigue impacts and has an impact on the turbine operating time. In this paper, using the results obtained by the authors about the change in aerodynamic forces during the turbine rotation, is determined the dynamic deformations and stresses caused by the change of the axial (thrust) force from the influence of the wind flow.
