Abstract: In this paper, a review is made about the technological development in Internet of Things (IoT) security over the past decade, emphasizing critical aspects such as authentication, encryption methods, and vulnerability mitigation techniques. The rapid development and widespread adoption of Internet of Things (IoT) devices have significantly increased security challenges, presenting unique vulnerabilities and threats. It outlines practical security considerations relevant to software developers and engineers, highlighting best practices and current trends in secure IoT application design. The study also briefly addresses open challenges and identifies promising future directions to guide further technological improvements in IoT security.
