Title: FEA Geometry Optimization for High Torque Pushbelt CVT Keywords: Abstract: This paper explores the influence of key geometry features in a CVT chain link through FEA parameter optimization, demonstrating numerical analysis application in engineering practice. Through understanding the influence of crucial geometry parameters on the transmission performance and load distribution inside and between links, considerations for achieving optimal geometry are drawn. This is done by constructing simplified virtual models of the considered mechanism, where interaction with pulleys and contact areas are also monitored as to determine the load capacity of the mechanism and optimal deviation from the pulley nominal angle. Conclusions from the results can be implicated at the design stage of high torque continuously variable transmissions.
