Title: An Approach to Decrease Dust Pollution in Steel Melt Shop by Virtual Prototyping
Keywords: CFD, Design improvement, Particles tracking, Simulation, Steelmaking, Thermal, Virtual prototyping

Abstract: This study aims to present an approach that is specially developed for the virtual prototyping of heavy industry processes – a steelmaking plant and its melt shop. It is directed to the improvement in means of the decrease of dust pollution which is an important problem nowadays, especially for existing plants whose general modifications are expensive. The modeled process is dynamic and complex and requires a specific representation of system objects movements. The developed approach is focused on a technique that allows simulating different positions of pollution sources as well as on set up parameters of the virtual prototype and performed simulations. The study is dedicated to a detailed description of the development of the approach and its validation through comparison to real process data. The presented work is a good reference for possible simulation of models where different configurations of geometry are needed to be presented.
