Title: Parameter Selection in PMSM Modelling for 10kW Low-Voltage Drives Keywords: electrical drives, field oriented control Abstract: Numerous applications require the use of electrical drives where only a low voltage 12-48V power source is available, requiring a relatively large power output in the range of 1.5-15kW compared to the low supply voltage. Such drives are used in small autonomous vehicles, lifting equipment, vessels and others. This paper discusses an approach for pre-determining the parameters of a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a power of 10kW, powered by rechargeable batteries. The electrical drive is intended as a replacement for a DC motor drive in a bow-thruster for a small vessel. A model was developed to determine a preliminary design assignment when designing the motor, electronics and control method. References Issue
