Title: Detailed kinetic modeling of soot formation during shock-tube pyrolysis of C6H6: Direct comparison with the results of time-resolved laser-induced incandescence (LII) and CW-laser extinction measurements

Abstract: The calculation of main parameters of soot formation by a kinetic model was discussed. The results obtained by kinetic model and by experimental measurement obtained by continuous-wave (CW) laser extinction technique during C6H6 pyrolysis behind reflected shock waves were compared. The kinetic model of soot formation incorporated gas-phase mechanism of acetylene pyrolysis. A comparison of results obtained by experiment and by the CW laser extinction method demonstrated a quantitatively good coincidence for all the main parameters of soot formation for various hydrocarbons.
