Title: Methodology for ensuring the safety of machines
Keywords: Machinery, directive, safety, harmonized standards, conformi

Abstract: The free movement of industrial products in the Single European Market requires compliance with the European Union's legislative framework for placing safety products on the market. For the implementation of the legislation, European standardization plays an active role by developing standards harmonized with the legislation. These standards are developed under a mandate of the European Commission. Their application provides a presumption of conformity of industrial products with legislative requirements and facilitate manufacturers. The article covers different stages of ensuring the safety of machines according to the requirements of the European technical legislation for harmonization. The object of this paper is Directive 2006/42/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 May 2006 on machinery and amending Directive 95/16/EC and the list of harmonized standards for that directive.
