Title: Generation Planning in the Bulgarian Power System under Current Market Restructuring – Method and Results
Keywords: Market restructuring, single and prevailing buyer models, me

Abstract: This paper presents an original method for medium- and short-term generation planning. It is based on decomposition of the overall problem into component optimization sub-problems, combining the priority-list techniques and heuristic combinatorial logic. For the first time the optimization problem is solved through optimal planning on an hourly basis for the whole one-year period. As a result of avoiding the necessity of zone aggregation of the forecasted loads, and because of the availability modeling for each unit for each separate single optimization period (hour), this approach naturally brings the solution closer to the planned conditions, and hence – raises the possibility of occurrence of the optimal schedule.
