Abstract: Photonic band gap (PBG) structures are innovation technology for improving radiation characteristic of different antenna types. In this work the improving an antennas radiation characteristics using a PBG structure is discussed. The studied structure leads to narrowing the antenna radiation pattern beamwidth and increasing the antenna gain. The results are verified using simulations and experimental measurements.
