Title: Some ways to increase the wear resistance of titanium alloys
Keywords: titanium alloys, surface modification, electrical spark depo

Abstract: In the present work the properties, advantages and disadvantages of titanium and its alloys and their suitability for use in various fields of application are discussed. The essence and technological features of the methods for improve the tribological characteristics of titanium and its alloys are considered. Based on a comparative analysis of their technical parameters and technological capabilities, appropriate methods and processes for applied of wear-resistant coatings and surface modification in order to improving the abrasion resistance and performance of titanium and titanium alloys are shown. The reasons for choosing the electrical spark deposition as an effective and suitable method for improving the surface properties of titanium alloys are determined. Guidelines for selecting an effective and suitable method for improving the surface properties of titanium and its alloys in different operational applications are indicated.
