Title: Estimation of the higher heating values for lignocellulosic biofuels
Keywords: lignocellulosic biofuel, chemical analyses, higher heating v

Abstract: This work aims at investigating the possibility to assess the higher heating value of the lignocellulosic biofuels through correlations based on the different analyses, namely ultimate, proximate and lignocellulosic. Seventeen empirical equations were applied to seven types of biofuels. The outcomes show that it is possible to calculate the higher heating value through standard analyses (with a difference below 6% between estimated and measured higher heating value). However, there is no universal correlation for all types of solid biofuels. The results point that for sunflower husks pellets and wheat straw pellets the suitable correlation was based on the proximate analysis; for cherry, peach and apricot stones – the ultimate analysis; for dark softwood pellets and colza pellets – the lignocellulosic analysis.
