Title: Study of microwave thermal processes through in situ Raman and dielectric spectroscopy

Abstract: The use of microwave energy for materials processing is well known, however, the heating mechanisms and the particular thermal behaviour of materials under high frequency electromagnetic fields is still a matter of research. Recent works highlight the need of further investigations to understand the microwave-matter interactions behind the materials thermal processes. Dielectric spectroscopy is a valuable tool to characterize the materials at microwave frequencies and to know how they are influenced by the presence of electromagnetic fields. Extensive research has been done to measure the dielectric properties of materials by many different techniques. Since these properties are temperature-dependent, they change during the heating process. Recent studies allow dielectric characterization of materials in real time during microwave heating processes, up to high temperatures (>10000℃).
