Title: Design considerations of ZVS converter for charging of energy storage elements
Keywords: energy storage; supercapasitor; ZVS; charging; DC-DC; design

Abstract: This paper presents a converter for charging and equalizing voltages across energy storage elements (ESE) - superconductors or rechargeable batteries, which are connected in series. The converter operates in soft switching mode: ZVS conditions are provided. The charged elements are galvanically separated from the main by high frequency transformers. Transformers and rectifiers can be made constructively as separate modules for each charged element. The number of modules depends on the number of items loaded. The paper presents also basic relations for dimensioning the magnetic components of the scheme and calculated and compared example designs.
