Abstract: The thermal regime of the assembly determines the reliability and the efficiency of LED equipment. The ability to calculate precisely the temperature distribution of the luminaire at different stages of its design is extremely precious for the designer team. The available engineering approaches for the analysis of the thermal regime of LED luminaires at design time are discussed in the paper. The special attention is paid to their precision and the parameters that influence it. Some considerations about the tuning of the numerical thermal models, based on the author’s experience are presented and supported with experimental results.
