Title: 3D Coupled electric-thermal analyis of bolted busbar connections
Keywords: 3D coupled modeling, bolted busbar connections, contact resi

Abstract: The present paper presents 3D coupled electric-thermal analysis of 5 typical configurations of bolted busbar connections, with the influence of the contact resistance in the overlapped zone with the bolts pressure is taken into account. Steady-state and transient modes of operation have been studied and temperature field distributions as time-dependent results are obtained and been presented. Time-constants for the modeled cases have been calculated, based on the results of the transient analyses. The influence of the reduced contact force in the bolts as well as the increased contact resistance on the thermal performance of the connections are also discussed
