Abstract: This paper studies the effects of shading and partial shading of a residential photovoltaic (PV) installation over the installation's performance. Shading is a crucial problem for installations of such kind, since generally such small systems consist of a single string photovoltaic panels connected in series. A case study is presented of a domestic PV installation used for water heating and a model is made in Simulink environment to simulate results
