Title: Design concept evaluation of tooth implant-abutment interface based on engineering analyses using virtual prototypes Keywords: Dental prosthesis, Finite element analysis, Implant-abutment Abstract: Contemporary dental medicine widely uses implant systems (implant, abutment, crown) to replace missing tooth and to restore human masticatory function. Mechanical design is important and related to successive prosthesis implementation. Review of existing systems design shows large variety of solutions, especially in implant/abutment interface. This interface needs to avoid microgaps formation and potential bacterial infection, instability and pain. Leading suppliers (Bicon, Biocare, etc.) are using different designs that have been evolved during years. This study aims to preview and evaluate most of the popular interfaces using techniques of virtual engineering. Engineering analyses are used to review in detail contact behaviour in the interface. This study is also a good example of modern engineering technologies application for modeling in mechanobiology. References Issue
