Abstract: In this paper a 3D model of a coaxial magnetic gear has been developed. Typically, magnetic gears are considered as a 2D plane-parallel models. In such models, the edge effects on magnetic field distributions in the forehead of the construction are not estimated where magnetic reluctance is significant especially for shorter length designs. A time dependent finite element method model of the coaxial magnetic gear design has been implemented. The modelling is carried out by Ansys-Maxwell software. 3D results for the flux density distribution and corresponding edge reluctance are compared with previously developed 2D model
