Title: Torque and Power Density of Coaxial Magnetic Gears
Keywords: Air-gaps, Design topologies, Magnetic gear, Power densities,

Abstract: In the present work, the recent positive trend in torque and power density of the coaxial magnetic gears is discussed. Timeline of magnetic gears development according to design topology and magnetic materials improvements is presented. Five generations of magnetic gears are recognized according to the torque density limitations. Analysis of possible design and material improvement opportunities is made. Main approach for torque and power density improvement is the maximization of the air-gap surface in magnetic gear volume. For coaxial magnetic gears this is possible by implementation of conical and multistage rotor designs. Theoretical limitations in case of conical and multistage rotors usage are considered
