Title: Capillar Activity of Non-woven Needle Felted Filters as a Measure of Their Degree of Modification
Keywords: capillar activity , plasma modification , non-woven textile

Abstract: Capillar activity of nonwovens characterized their filtration ability. Widely used method for porous media characterization is experimental capillary rise method. Non-woven porous media textiles can be characterized by studying the kinetics of liquid rise within the pore spaces. It is well known that the porous structure of the non-woven fabric gives an advantage associated with the deeper penetration of the plasma into the treated material. The electrical and magnetic polarization of textile filaments carried out under atmospheric or lowered gas pressure is a useful method for changing their surface state. Experimental studies have been conducted to determine the capillary activity of porous non-woven filter PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) textile material by capillary rise after low temperature plasma treatment in vacuum. The aim of this study is to use the capillary activity changes as a measure for the type and the extent of modification of non-woven needle felted textile materia
