Title: Application of geographic information systems and stochastic methods in the research of global changes
Keywords: GIS,stochastic methods,geostatistics

Abstract: Maps have traditionally been used to explore the Earth and to exploit its resources. GIS technology, as an expansion of cartographic science, has enhanced the efficiency and analytic power of traditional mapping. Now, as the scientific community recognizes the environmental consequences of human activity, GIS technology is becoming an essential tool in the effort to understand the process of global change. GIS and the statistical methods included in them will become more and more important not only for the research of the global changes on planets and partially on the Earth but will also enter more and more deeply into the every-day life of the human community.
