Abstract: The following paper presents investigation of a series-resonant DC-DC converter with voltage clamping applied to part of the tank capacitor. State-plane analysis of the circuit for operation above the resonant frequency is performed. As a result, basic converter characteristics are obtained for different ratios of the tank capacitor parts. The conditions for circuit operation as a current source for battery charging applications are discussed. Considerations about the design are made. The obtained results are verified with computer simulations in LTspice.
