Abstract: The thyristor control drivers determine to great extent the correct and reliable operation of the converters using them [1]. The requirements to the control drivers depend on the thyristors' specific application. They are quite controversial and difficult to achieve for powerful and responsible transformers. Very stringent requirements apply to the control of thyristors connected in series or in parallel, as well as to transformers, operating under a wide range of output current variation, including during current interruption.
