Title: An Investigation of Linear Iron-Core Chokes without Air-Gaps

Abstract: In the present paper the linear iron-core chokes without air-gaps are discussed. The main areas of application of such chokes are presented. Basic requirements to be met by magnetic materials used in the choke core are disclosed, too. In addition, a survey of appropriate soft-magnetic materials has been made. The study has been focused on linear chokes having cores made of amorphous soft- magnetic strips. A simple method for calculating linear iron-core chokes without air-gaps is shown.
