Title: Thermal analysis methods for evaluation of plasma aided wood impregnation on pyrolysis

Abstract: Thermal analysis methods (thermogravimetry, TGA; derivative thermogravimetry, DTA; and differential scanning calorimetry, DSC) was conducted in air atmospheres on the thermal decomposition of wood, natural (Pinus sylvestris, Bulgaria) and treated with phosphor and nitrogen containing flame retardant (trade product of Interiorportect, Ltd., Bulgaria) by different technologies of capillary impregnation. Plasma, surfactant, and spreader aided impregnation were in use for making different flame retarded wood samples. Cold plasma surface functionalization by dielectric barrier discharge at atmospheric pressure and room temperature was applied to increase capillary and chemical surface activations. Thermograms were obtained for the temperature ranges for endothermic and exothermic reactions, for the temperatures of maximum heat absorption or release, and for the heat intensities.
