A simulating model of a direct injection diesel engine was developed by means of Ricardo Wave software. Then, the influence of EGR rate on the specific quantity of nitrogen oxides and specific fuel consumption was assessed. A study was conducted in three different values of fuel/air ratio and engine speed of 2500rpm. Lastly, a comparison of the engine power, specific NOx quantity and fuel/air ratio is presented.
