Abstract: Wind farm energy production depends mainly on the strength of the wind at the wind turbine hub height. The wind shear distribution depends mainly on the orography of the terrain. When a flow passes close to a solid wall with a certain roughness a thin layer with different velocity distribution appears. The numerical study of the velocity distribution is a complicated issue so in some cases it is necessary to be performed experimental studies. Based on the dimensional analysis methodology are presented the terms for leading the experimental study, and are described the respective limitations.
