Title: Integrated Measurement of Sound Insulation and Absorption in Sustainable Materials Keywords: building acoustics, comparative measurements, small size acoustic chamber, sound absorption, Sound insulation Abstract: This study presents an integrated experimental approach for the comparative evaluation of airborne sound insulation and sound absorption properties of sustainable building materials. A combined measurement method is proposed, employing a small-size acoustic chamber for sound insulation assessment alongside a receiving room with acoustic conditions approximating those of a reverberation chamber for sound absorption measurements. A key feature of the methodology is the integrated use of the measured reverberation time of the receiving room in determining both acoustic indicators. Frequency-dependent measurements were conducted on hemp wool as a representative eco-friendly material. The results demonstrate the feasibility of the proposed approach as a practical framework for comparative acoustic characterization, early-stage material development, and production-stage optimization. The integrated method enables efficient preliminary laboratory investigations while providing complementary information about the acoustic behavior of sustainable materials. References
