Title: Challenges and Opportunities for Governing Machine Learning Under EU AI Act Keywords: Artificial Intelligence, EU AI Act, Compliance, IT Controls Abstract: —The variety of ML models used in organizations is constantly growing. The adoption of AI presents a variety of opportunities for business organizations. Day to day activities can be automated, and complex processes can be optimized as well. As many organizations push for the implementation of AI and business process optimization, the risk of non-compliance is still present. On top of that, there are several areas like model integrity and explainability which are currently underestimated. Additionally, EU commission is enforcing the EU AI Act which mandates strict controls to be implemented in order to provide assurance for the models in use. The current paper provides an overview of the main present challenges that need to be addressed within the broader use of AI and main opportunities, from which the organizations can benefit in the long run.
