Title: Use of thermal-imaging technique during the exploitation of photovoltaic systems Keywords: failures, photovoltaic power plant, preventionAbstract: This paper examines the application of thermography in the operation and maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) power plants. Thermographic inspections provide a nondestructive method to detect early-stage defects by identifying abnormal temperature increases in electrical components and PV modules. A 3 MWp photovoltaic plant equipped with polycrystalline panels and central inverters was studied, where thermal imaging revealed issues such as loose cable connections, improperly crimped connectors, and localized hot spots on PV panels. These defects, if undetected, may lead to reduced efficiency, equipment degradation, or even fire hazards. The results highlight the importance of regular thermographic monitoring to ensure reliable operation, minimize failures, and extend the lifespan of PV systems. Overall, thermography proves to be a valuable preventive diagnostic tool that supports efficient energy production and enhances the safety of photovoltaic installations. References - J. A.
