Title: Impact of the Support Hydrophilicity Through Electrospinning of PVA/Beeswax (BW) Nanofibres
Keywords: hydrophilicity, moisture management, nanofiber coating, nanofiber mats, protective fabrics, PVA/beeswax, textile substrates, еlectrospinning

Abstract: This study investigates the influence of textile substrate hydrophilicity on the electrospinning of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) and beeswax (BW) nanofiber mats. Two woven fabrics with contrasting wettability were examined: hydrophilic cotton denim and hydrophobic water-repellent protective fabric. Gravimetric, capillary absorption, and moisture management analyses revealed that the hydrophilic denim promoted rapid solvent uptake, efficient liquid transport, and uniform fiber deposition, resulting in greater nanofiber mats mass and thickness. In contrast, the hydrophobic coated fabric suppressed moisture transfer and hindered fiber adhesion, leading to limited mat growth. The results highlight substrate wettability as a key parameter for optimizing electrospinning on textiles and provide guidance for the design of sustainable functional coatings and protective fabrics.
