Title: VISCOSITY ANALYSIS OF ENGINE OILS USING A DESIGN OF EXPERIMENT APPROACH Keywords: design of experiment, engine oil, viscosity measurementsAbstract: This study investigates the viscosity characteristics of three engine oil types (0W40, 5W40, and 10W40) at three distinct temperatures (–15, 25, and 50°C) using a systematic Design of Experiment (DoE) approach. Regression models is developed to describe the relationship between temperature and viscosity, achieving an R² of 98.73% and a predicted R² of 90.30%, which confirms the model’s robustness and predictive capability. The analysis reveals that viscosity increases sig-nificantly at sub-zero temperatures, with pronounced differences among the oil types due to their distinct low-temperature specifications. In contrast, at higher temperatures, the viscosity differences become minimal. These findings offer valuable insights into the thermal performance of engine oils and provide a basis for optimising their application under varying operational conditions. References - R. BIRD, W.
