Abstract: Tha paper shows a way to make the polyester matrix of polymer concrete hydrophilic by modifying it with cement slurry or with diethanolamine (DEA). DEA-modified polymer concretes unfortunately possess not very high mechanical properties on account of possible degradation of the polyester binder, especially at high DEA doses. Additional studies were carried out to establish whether it is possible to replace DEA with another amine that has a less unfavourable effect on the strength of polymer concrete.
