Title: MACHINE FOR ACCELERATED AGING USING UV RADIATION AND PERIODIC IMMERSION IN WATER
Keywords: accelerated aging machine, aging, polymers, UV radiation, water im-mersion

Abstract: Aging of plastics (polymers) is a problem of global economic importance. This process is usually slow, which requires accelerated methods to study the behavior of plastics during aging. The conditions of accelerated methods differ from the real ones, affecting the results. One of the methods that fairly successfully reproduces natural aging is exposure to UV radiation and periodic immersion in distilled water. The method is described in standards ISO 4892 (Plastics-Methods for exposure with laboratory light sources). The article discusses the special features of the ISO 4892 standards. The construction and operation of a newly developed UV aging test machine with periodic immersion in distilled water is described.
