Title: Monitoring and digitalization technologies for HV power cable systems
Keywords:

Abstract: Underground cable replacement due to age is an expensive process that can cost hundreds of euros per meter and require many days or even weeks to complete for a single wire. On the other hand, testing a cable part to determine whether it needs to be replaced can save up to seven times the quantity of cable that needs to be replaced in the same amount of time for a fraction of the cost. With just these choices open to them, utilities are forced to prioritize risks, create financial projections and budgets, and uphold the dependability and safety of their cable systems. In this regard, the creation of cutting-edge digitalization solutions—specifically, sophisticated subterranean high-voltage cable monitoring systems—offers worldwide resources for the upkeep of these assets. This work's goal is to offer pertinent data that will be taken into account when deciding whether to pay for technologies that enable sophisticated monitoring of high-voltage underground networks.
