Abstract: In the work, an asymptotic order decomposition is made for a small parameter of a functional, up to and including the second degree of the parameter. The conditions for extremity of the obtained asymptotic series representing the integral are derived. Up to this accuracy, the method can be represented as a generalization of the variational method for the study of functionals.
