Title: Experimental Setup for Studying the Oscillations of Two Degrees of Freedom Spring Systems Keywords: MEMS accelerometers and gyroscopes, spring systems, two degrees of freedom nonlinear oscillationsAbstract: Modern advances in microtechnology have facilitated the development of compact, cost-effective, integrated accelerometers and gyroscopes that are suitable for investigating the motion of various structures, mechanisms, and machines. This paper presents an experimental setup for performing experiments to record large oscillations of a spring system with two degrees of freedom. Two 3D accelerometer and 3D gyroscope modules, a low-cost microcontroller, and a wireless communication module are used. The experiments show that measurements that use integrated digital accelerometers to investigate the kinetics of such a class of mechanical systems allow for a significantly more comprehensive analysis of their behavior than traditional measurements.
