Abstract: The problems arising when the output signal from a current pulse detector is further shaped by a RLC circuit are considered. The amplitude dependence of the output signal is derived as a function of the incoming charge. The energy-code transfer function is logarithmic which is a precondition to achieve a wide energy range (more than three decades). The influence of the ratio 0 0 T /τ (T0 being the period of the RLC circuit's free oscillations and 0 τ being the decay constant of the incoming pulse) on the signal shaping accuracy is investigated
