Title: Design Solution for an Extreme Concept of Specific Geometry in Complex Plastic Parts Keywords: Abstract: The work presented is an injection molding filling analysis of a glasses frame with live hinge. Possibilities for optimizing the filling process to minimize warpage and part temperature after cooling are studied. Geometry will be validated with a physical prototype model as well as the accuracy level from virtual simulations will be discussed. Defined are clear steps for early investigation of undesirable defects in the plastic geometry by adding an additional step in the production process. Through a real test example, a prototype unhardened mold tool is created for validation purpose of both ergonomics and functionality, as well as possible false results from virtual filling simulations due to specific geometry like live hinges.
