Abstract: This article presents the main features of two mathematical models of electric motors. The first model used two synchronous machines with permanent magnets coupled to each other. In the second model, a similar model including an induction machine and a synchronous machine with permanent magnets is implemented. The purpose of the realized models is to represent the principle of operation of an electric vehicle through a sufficiently close approximation. The models are implemented in the MATLAB/Simulink programming environment. Also, the main advantages and disadvantages in the way of controlling the different types of machines are presented, regarding their energy efficiency.
