Abstract: This paper presents the features of a system for control of wound rotor induction motors in stepping mode of operation. With the described approach greater power and torque are achieved that cannot be provided with classical stepping motors. The operation of the described drive system both in stepping mode and in electric fixation mode are analyzed. The presented electric drive system is suitable for a number of applications, such as cranes, hoists and other machines, where a certain positional accuracy is required at a higher power of the electric motors used. Complementing the traditional motor mode with stepping mode of operation will provide positioning with an accuracy of one mechanical step. The research carried out and the results obtained can be used in the modernization of existing position electric drives with wound rotor induction motors.
