Title: Optimization of Energy Consumption of Road Tunnels

Abstract: Road tunnels, when regarded as an electric power load, show unique feature-the level of consumption is determined by the level of solar availability. Both events are 'in phase'-the higher sun irradiation, the higher the power consumption. That fact makes implementation of photovoltaic generators very efficient and eliminates the need of power storage. Direct power generation is just one of the components that can increase the energy efficiency of road tunnels. The paper discusses a complex of measures causing significant reduction of power consumption and overall expenses of road tunnels.
