Abstract: The interconnection between color and light has been a major topic of a lot of research. The current paper aims to analyze the influence of the colors of the surfaces in a space on the energy efficiency of its lighting installation. The real situation in a machine hall in a Waterpower Plant has been investigated. A reconstruction of the lighting conditions has been proposed and the estimation of the possible economy of electrical energy has been calculated in case the surfaces in the premises are painted in different colors. The artistic and architectural recommendations on the influence of the different colors on the psychological reactions of humans and the perception of spaciousness are also considered.
