Title: Large Signal Complex Permeability for Design and Simulation of Power Electronics Circuits

Abstract: This paper introduces a concept for a Large Signal Complex Permeability (LSCP) magnetic cores characterization based on square wave excitation. The LSCP derivation is detailed through an exemplary measurement performed and its validity is verified through circuits’ simulations fed with experimental waveforms. With the LSCP data, the magnetizing inductance and power loss resistance resulting from the magnetic core in use can be more arcuately predicted in terms of the actual switching converter operating conditions.
