Abstract: In today’s post-industrial and information age, the main economic driver is neither physical labour, nor capital, but knowledge. The development of high-tech products brings the highest added value, and it is this sector that is leading the economy of the 21-st century. At the same time, we are living in a globalised world where countries are getting increasingly interdependent, facing up similar challenges which can only be effectively met by making a concerted effort worldwide. Often economic and industrial demands must be balanced against ethical ones concerning human and ethical safety.
