Title: Factors influencing the public sentiment on nuclear energy investment in European union member states
Keywords: nuclear & alternative energy, European Union, public opinion

Abstract: The article aims to analyze key factors that influence public sentiment on nuclear energy investment in the European Union (EU) member states. The research employs a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data from Eurobarometer surveys, interviews, and referenda. Its primary contribution lies in an analysis of the most statistically significant correlations, discovered through a Bayesian softmax regression model, to predict prevalent European member states’ sentiment on nuclear energy. The sentiment is a categorical variable with three possible values: Positive, Neutral, and Negative, and the model predicts the probability distribution of the sentiment. The model provides insight into the impact of different factors on the nuclear energy sentiment and can be useful in identifying key statistical correlations. It has implications for the future development of nuclear energy policy at both the member state and pan-European level.
