Абстракт: The contribution reports some results from a numerical study of the wave propagation process in a viscoelastic medium. Specifically, evolutions of stress and displacements provoked by a transient load are monitored at a predefined location. A material constitutive relation that defines the viscoelastic response based on the generalized Hooke's law is discussed. A numerical procedure designed to modify the material properties in the function of the assumed viscoelastic constitutive relation is integrated into a transient, finite element analysis.
