Abstract: The closed loop performance of every switched mode power supply depends on the optimal design of the compensation network. Choosing the right type of compensation determents, the dynamic performance of the converter and as such warrants a closer examination. This paper comperes the two main types of compensation – digital and analog. It first lays the theoretical background covering the possible ways to discretizes an analog compensator.
