Title: LPG effect on performance parameters of diesel engine operated on dual-fuel mode Keywords: Diesel engine, LPG, Dual-fuel mode Abstract: The article derives conclusions of various studies related to the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) - a mixture of propane and butane as a gas fuel applicable for gas-diesel working cycle. By the application of the described in the article experimental setup and methodology, bench tests of an internal combustion engine operating on a gas-diesel cycle were performed. The results of experimental studies of a Volkswagen 1.9 D engine using LPG to organize a gas-diesel cycle are presented. Based on the results obtained, it was found that the use of LPG for establishing gas-diesel cycle leads to: deterioration of the fuel economy of the engine at low and medium loads, however at high loads no significant effect on fuel economy parameters is observed; increasing the amount of CO and CH emissions; significant reduction of CO2, NOx and soot emissions.
