Title: Study of PV Technology Influence on the Battery Sizing in PV-based Irrigation System
Keywords: Battery sizing, PV technology, irrigation system

Abstract: The paper presents a study of the influence of the photovoltaic (PV) technology on the sizing of the battery capacity in an irrigation system. The proposed methodology is based on simulation of the system's operation during the irrigation period with a step of 1 hour. Five different PV technologies, influenced differently by the meteorological conditions are considered. Different criteria are used to estimate the optimal configuration. The methodology is applied to 5 sites in Bulgaria with high yield of the considered crop - cherries. The results show some trends in the battery sizing according to the PV technology and the installation site.
